कॉमनवेल्थ खेल की रजत पदक विजेता बिंद्यारानी देवी ने 83 किग्रा में शुरुआती असफलता के बावजूद जबरदस्त वापसी की। उन्होंने स्नैच में 88 किग्रा उठाकर नया राष्ट्रीय रिकॉर्ड बनाया। इसके बाद क्लीन एंड जर्क में 107 किग्रा की सफल शुरुआत की। हालांकि, 112 किग्रा की दूसरी कोशिश नाकाम रही, लेकिन उन्होंने 113 किग्रा उठाकर अपनी श्रेष्ठता साबित की। उनके कुल 201 किग्रा के प्रदर्शन ने उन्हें शीर्ष स्थान पर पहुंचा दिया। यह उनके अपने राष्ट्रीय रिकॉर्ड 202 किग्रा से मात्र 1 किग्रा कम था, लेकिन उनकी उपलब्धि ने उन्हें तीनों राष्ट्रीय रिकॉर्ड (स्नैच, क्लीन एंड जर्क और कुल भार) का स्वामी बना दिया।

मणिपुर को एक और पदक दिलाने वाली एल. नीलम देवी ने भी शानदार प्रदर्शन करते हुए कांस्य पदक जीता। नीलम ने स्नैच में शुरुआती असफलताओं के बाद 81 किग्रा उठाया और फिर क्लीन एंड जर्क में 98 किग्रा और 101 किग्रा पर 104 किग्रा में चूक गईं।
इस मुकाबले में पश्चिम बंगाल की शराबानी दास ने स्नैच में 78 किग्रा और 81 किग्रा उठाया और क्लीन एंड जर्क में 102 किग्रा और 106 किग्रा भार उठाकर रजत पदक अपने नाम किया।
