एम्स ऋषिकेश में आयोजित दो दिवसीय सम्मेलन के दौरान पल्मोनरी विशेषज्ञ चिकित्सकों ने बढ़ते लंग्स कैंसर के मामलों पर चिन्ता व्यक्त की और कहा कि कैंसर से बचाव के लिए धूम्रपान का परहेज अत्यंत आवश्यक है।
अखिल भारतीय आयुर्विज्ञान संस्थान, एम्स ऋषिकेश के पल्मोनरी मेडिसिन विभाग के तत्वावधान में दो दिवसीय नेशनल लंग्स कैंसर सम्मेलन का आयोजन किया गया। सम्मेलन को संबोधित करते हुए संस्थान की कार्यकारी निदेशक प्रो. मीनू सिंह ने कहा कि फेफड़ों के कैंसर का सबसे मुख्य कारण धूम्रपान (बीड़ी एवं सिगरेट) को सेवन है। कहा कि चिकित्सा विशेषज्ञों के लिए यह चिन्ता का विषय है कि देश में साल दर साल लंग्स कैंसर के मामलों में बढ़ोत्तरी हो रही है। उन्होंने कैंसर से बचाव के लिए किसी भी तरह के धूम्रपान का परहेज अत्यंत आवश्यक बताया। सम्मेलन के दौरान इंडियन सोसाईटी फाॅर स्टडी ऑफ लंग्स कैंसर (आई.एस.एस.एल.सी) के अध्यक्ष डॉ. दिगम्बर बेहरा ने फेफड़ों के कैंसर के शुरुआती लक्षण को शीघ्र पता लगाने और समय रहते उपचार शुरू करने की बात कही।
आयोजन समिति के अध्यक्ष व एम्स ऋषिकेश के पल्मोनरी विभाग के हेड प्रोफेसर गिरीश सिंधवानी ने फेफड़ों के कैंसर के निदान और उपचार विषय पर विस्तृत जानकारी दी। आयोजन समिति के सचिव डॉ. मयंक मिश्रा ने एम्स ऋषिकेश में संचालित लंग्स कैंसर ओपीडी के बारे में बताया कि प्रत्येक शुक्रवार को इस ओपीडी में विशेष तौर से लंग्स कैंसर के मरीजों को देखा जाता है। बताया कि लंग्स कैंसर के निदान और इसके इलाज के लिए संस्थान में इंटरवेंशनल ब्रोंकोस्काॅपी सहित सभी प्रकार की आधुनिक तकनीक आधारित उपचार की सुविधाएं उपलब्ध है।
सम्मेलन को इंडियन सोसाईटी फाॅर स्टडी ऑफ लंग्स कैंसर (एसएसएलसी) की महासचिव डॉ. दिव्या खोसला सहित देशभर के विभिन्न चिकित्सा संस्थानों से आये पल्मोनोलॉजिस्ट, मेडिकल ऑन्कोलॉजिस्ट, रेडिएशन ऑन्कोलॉजिस्ट, सर्जिकल ऑन्कोलॉजिस्ट, पैथोलॉजिस्ट और न्यूक्लियर मेडिसिन विशेषज्ञों ने लंग्स कैंसर विषय अपने अनुभव और विचारों को साझा किया। साथ ही लंग्स कैंसर के उपचार और रोकथाम के मामलों में मरीजों की जांच, सर्जरी, कैंसर स्टेजिंग, इंटरवेंशनल ब्रोंकोस्कोपी, रेडियोथेरेपी, कीमोथेरेपी के प्रभाव एवं दुष्प्रभाव पर चर्चा की गई।
इस दौरान एम्स दिल्ली, एम्स जोधपुर, एम्स रायपुर और पीजीआई चण्डीगढ़ के विशेषज्ञ चिकित्सकों सहित एम्स ऋषिकेश पल्मोनरी विभाग की डाॅ. रूचि दुआ, डाॅ. प्रखर शर्मा, डाॅ. लोकेश सैनी सहित कई अन्य मौजूद रहे।
