राष्ट्रीय प्रेस दिवस के अवसर पर आयोजित गोष्टी की अध्यक्षता करते हुए वरिष्ठ पत्रकार सुरेंद्र भट्ट ने सभी मीडिया कर्मियों को हार्दिक शुभकामनाएं दी। इस अवसर पर उन्होंने अपने लंबे पत्रकारिता-अनुभव को साझा करते हुए बताया कि समय के साथ पत्रकारिता के तौर-तरीकों में परिवर्तन आया है,लेकिन सत्य निष्पक्षता और जनहित आज भी पत्रकारिता की मूल आत्मा हैं। सुरेंद्र भट्ट ने विशेष रूप से पीत पत्रकारिता पर प्रकाश डालते हुए कहा कि आज के दौर में गलत तथ्यों,अतिरंजना और भ्रामक समाचारों का प्रसार लोकतंत्र के लिए चुनौती बन रहा है। उन्होंने कहा कि पत्रकारों का दायित्व है कि वे सत्य और विश्वसनीयता के सिद्धांतों को प्राथमिकता देकर समाज में जागरूकता फैलाएं।उन्होंने युवा पत्रकारों को संदेश दिया कि वे अपने पेशे के मानकों और नैतिक मूल्यों का सम्मान करते हुए निर्भीक और निष्पक्ष पत्रकारिता को अपनाए।
अतिरिक्त जिला सूचना अधिकारी सुरेश कुमार ने गोष्ठी का संचालन करते हुए राष्ट्रीय प्रेस परिषद के उद्देश्यों एवं उसकी भूमिका पर प्रकाश डाला। उन्होंने कार्यक्रम में उपस्थित सभी पत्रकारों का धन्यवाद ज्ञापित किया।
