मुख्यमंत्री पुष्कर सिंह धामी ने प्रदेश में निजी बसों में सफर करने वाले यात्रियों को भी दुर्घटना बीमा/आर्थिक सुरक्षा का लाभ प्रदान करने के निर्देश दिए है।
मुख्यमंत्री ने सचिव परिवहन को आदेश दिए हैं कि सरकारी और निजी बसों के मुआवजे में एकरूपता लाने के लिए 10 दिन के भीतर प्रस्ताव प्रस्तुत करें। वर्तमान में, उत्तराखंड परिवहन निगम की बसों में सफर के दौरान दुर्घटना में मृत्यु पर मृतक के परिजनों को मुख्यमंत्री विवेकाधीन कोष और सड़क सुरक्षा कोष से कुल पांच लाख रुपए की सहायता राशि प्रदान की जाती है। इसके अतिरिक्त, निगम की ओर से भी पांच लाख रुपए की दुर्घटना प्रतिकर राशि दी जाती है।
अब निजी बस ऑपरेटर की सवारियों को भी इस योजना का लाभ मिलेगा। इससे दुर्घटनाओं के दौरान निजी बसों के यात्रियों के परिजनों को कुल दस लाख रुपए की राहत राशि मिल सकेगी। मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि सड़क दुर्घटनाओं में जनहानि का कष्ट सभी परिवारों के लिए असहनीय होता है। ऐसे में राहत राशि में किसी प्रकार की असमानता नहीं होनी चाहिए।
मुख्यमंत्री ने निर्देश दिए हैं कि सड़क सुरक्षा नियमावली को शीघ्र अगली कैबिनेट में प्रस्तुत किया जाए। इसके साथ ही, सड़कों पर इन्फोर्समेंट बढ़ाने, बसों की फिटनेस सुनिश्चित करने, ड्राइवरों का ड्राइविंग टेस्ट और स्वास्थ्य परीक्षण करने तथा शेष क्रैश बैरियर लगाने की प्रक्रिया तेज की जाए।
मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि राज्य सरकार सड़क सुरक्षा को लेकर प्रतिबद्ध है और यात्रियों की सुरक्षा सर्वोच्च प्राथमिकता है। सभी विभागों को इस दिशा में समन्वित प्रयास करने के निर्देश दिए गए हैं।
