भारत और न्यूजीलैंड के बीच तीसरा टेस्ट मुकाबला मुंबई के वानखेड़े स्टेडियम में खेला जा रहा है। दूसरे दिन का खेल समाप्त होने तक न्यूजीलैंड ने दूसरी पारी में नौ विकेट पर 171 रन बनाए और 143 रनों की बढ़त हासिल कर ली। एजाज पटेल सात रन बनाकर नाबाद लौटे। शनिवार को कीवियों के लिए विल यंग ने सबसे ज्यादा रन बनाए। उन्होंने 51 रनों की शानदार पारी खेली। उनके अलावा कॉनवे ने 22, मिचेल ने 21 और फिलिप्स ने 26 रन बनाए। बाकी चार बल्लेबाज दहाई का आंकड़ा भी नहीं छू पाए। भारत के लिए जडेजा ने चार, अश्विन ने तीन विकेट चटकाए। वहीं, आकाश दीप और सुंदर को एक-एक विकेट मिला।
भारत की पहली पारी 263 रन पर समाप्त हुई। न्यूजीलैंड ने टॉस जीतकर पहले बल्लेबाजी करते हुए अपनी पहली पारी में 235 रन बनाए थे। इस लिहाज से टीम इंडिया को 28 रन की बढ़त मिली। भारत की ओर से शुभमन गिल ने सबसे ज्यादा 90 रन बनाए। शनिवार को भारत ने चार विकेट पर 86 रन से आगे खेलना शुरू किया और 177 रन बनाने में बाकी छह विकेट गंवा दिए। शुभमन गिल और ऋषभ पंत ने आज भारतीय पारी को आगे बढ़ाया और आक्रामक बल्लेबाजी की। दोनों ने पांचवें विकेट के लिए 96 रन की साझेदारी निभाई। पंत ने इस दौरान टेस्ट करियर का 13वां अर्धशतक और गिल ने सातवां अर्धशतक लगाया।
बड़े हिट के चक्कर में पंत एल्बीडब्ल्यू आउट हो गए। उन्हें ईश सोढ़ी ने पवेलियन भेजा। वह 59 गेंद में आठ चौके और दो छक्के की मदद से 60 रन बनाकर आउट हुए। इसके बाद भारतीय पारी लड़खड़ा गई। एक वक्त भारत का स्कोर चार विकेट पर 180 रन था और फिर 83 रन बनाने में टीम इंडिया ने आखिरी छह विकेट गंवा दिए। पंत के आउट होने के बाद रवींद्र जडेजा 14 रन, रविचंद्रन अश्विन छह रन बनाकर आउट हुए। शुभमन गिल ने 146 गेंद में सात चौके और एक छक्के की मदद से 90 रन की पारी खेली। सरफराज खान और आकाश दीप खाता नहीं खोल सके। वॉशिंगटन सुंदर ने आखिर में कुछ बड़े हिट्स लगाए और भारत को बढ़त दिलाई। वह 36 गेंद में चार चौके और दो छक्कों की मदद से 38 रन बनाकर नाबाद रहे। न्यूजीलैंड की ओर से एजाज पटेल ने पांच विकेट लिए। वहीं, मैट हेनरी, ग्लेन फिलिप्स और ईश सोढ़ी को एक-एक विकेट मिला।
