भारत के पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री डॉ. मनमोहन सिंह का 92 साल की उम्र में निधन हो गया। वे उम्र से संबंधित बीमारियों के कारण उपचाराधीन थे और 26 दिसंबर 2024 को घर पर अचानक बेहोश हो गए थे, घर पर ही उन्हें तुरंत पुनर्जीवित करने के उपाय शुरू किए गए उन्हें रात 8:06 बजे एम्स, नई दिल्ली के मेडिकल इमरजेंसी में लाया गया। तमाम कोशिशों के बावजूद उन्हें बचाया नहीं जा सका और रात 9:51 बजे उन्हें मृत घोषित कर दिया गया।
पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री मनमोहन सिंह के निधन के बाद राष्ट्रपति भवन में राष्ट्रीय ध्वज आधा झुका दिया गया। भारत सरकार ने आज के लिए निर्धारित सभी कार्यक्रम रद्द कर दिए हैं और 7 दिनों का राष्ट्रीय शोक घोषित किया है। डॉ. मनमोहन सिंह का अंतिम संस्कार पूरे राजकीय सम्मान के साथ किया जाएगा।
प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री के निधन पर दुःख व्यक्त किया है उन्होंने कहा , “डॉ. मनमोहन सिंह जी और मैं उस समय नियमित रूप से बातचीत करते थे जब वे प्रधानमंत्री थे और मैं गुजरात का मुख्यमंत्री था। हम शासन से संबंधित विभिन्न विषयों पर गहन विचार-विमर्श करते थे। उनकी बुद्धिमत्ता और विनम्रता हमेशा देखने को मिलती थी। दुख की इस घड़ी में मेरी संवेदनाएं डॉ. मनमोहन सिंह जी के परिवार, उनके मित्रों और असंख्य प्रशंसकों के साथ हैं। ओम शांति।”
लोकसभा में विपक्ष के नेता राहुल गांधी ने पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री को श्रद्धांजलि देते हुए कहा कि , “मनमोहन सिंह जी ने असीम बुद्धिमत्ता और ईमानदारी के साथ भारत का नेतृत्व किया। उनकी विनम्रता और अर्थशास्त्र की गहरी समझ ने पूरे देश को प्रेरित किया। श्रीमती कौर और उनके परिवार के प्रति मेरी हार्दिक संवेदनाएं। मैंने एक मार्गदर्शक खो दिया है। हममें से लाखों लोग जो उनके प्रशंसक थे, उन्हें अत्यंत गर्व के साथ याद करेंगे।”
