उत्तराखण्ड के उच्च व मध्य हिमालयी भाग के दुर्गम इलाकों में की जाने वाली पदयात्रा 1974 से हर दस साल के अंतराल में होती रही है। अस्कोट-आराकोट अभियान यात्रा के नाम से चर्चित यह यात्रा पहाड़ संस्था के संयोजन में आयोजित होती रही है। विगत पांच दशकों में यह यात्रा वर्ष 1974, 1984, 1994, 2004, 2014 और 2024 में सम्पन्न हुई हैं।

अस्कोट-आराकोट यात्रा अभियान-2024 में इसके समानांतर स्त्रोत से संगम यात्राएं भी आयोजित हुईं। इसी क्रम में नयार नदी: स्त्रोत से संगम अध्ययन यात्रा घुलेत गांव से 21 अप्रेल, 2025 से आरम्भ होकर एक सप्ताह बाद 28 अप्रेल, 2025 को सतपुली होकर व्यास घाट में समाप्त होगी। तकरीबन 100 किमी. की इस यात्रा में युवा छात्र, शोधार्थी, वैज्ञानिक, भूगर्भशास्त्री, समाज विज्ञानी और सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता प्रतिभाग कर रहे हैं। मुख्य रुप से नयार नदी के उद्गम स्थल दूधातोली पर्वत श्रंृखला से गंगा नदी के संगम व्यासघाट तक इसके बहुआयामी बदलावों पर स्थानीय जन समाज से विचार-विमर्श किया जायेगा। स्थानीय भूगोल,समाज,इतिहासश् आर्थिकी, जल-जंगल-जमीन के साथ ही यहां के पारिस्थितिकी तंत्र का अवलोकन कर महत्वपूर्ण मुद्दों को जानने-समझने की कोशिश इस यात्रा में की जायेगी। गांव समाज से प्राप्त अनुभवों के आंकड़ों-विवरण के आधार पर एक व्यापक रपट तैयार करने का प्रयास रहेगा। बाद में इस रपट को जन हित में सार्वजनिक किया जायेगा।

अध्ययन यात्रा दल के सदस्य 20 अप्रेल, 2025 को घुलेख गांव में रात्रि विश्राम करेंगे। और 21 अप्रैल, 2025 को नयार नदी के उद्गम स्त्रोत श्रृगं ऋषि आश्रम (मुरलीकोट टॉप,सिंगोर) में भ्रमण और संपर्क करते हुए लगभग 7 किमी. पैदल यात्रा तय कर रात्रि विश्राम छानियों में करेंगे। वहां से यह दल पूर्वी नयार अध्ययन यात्रा दल तथा पश्चिमी नयार अध्ययन यात्रा दल में अलग-अलग विभक्त होकर 27 अप्रेल, 2025 को इन दोनों नदियों के संगम स्थल सतपुली में मिलेंगे और ततपश्चात सामूहिक रुप से 28 अप्रेल,2025 को बांघाट होते हुए अन्त में व्यास घाट को प्रस्थान करेंगें।
पूर्वी नयार अध्ययन यात्रा मार्ग दल के सदस्य 22 अप्रेल, 2025 को श्रृगं ऋषि आश्रम से लगभग 15 किमी. घनघोर जंगल का पैदल मार्ग तय करके मरोड़ा गांव में रात्रि विश्राम कर अगले दिन थलीसैण में रात्रि विश्राम करेंगे। यहां राजकीय महाविद्यालय, थलीसैण में विचार-विमर्श के उपरांत जिवई अथवा बैजरों में रात्रि विश्राम कर अगले दिन दुनाव,मज्याड़ी अथवा पटेड़ासेरा में रात्रि विश्राम करेंगे। यहां से मार्ग के विविध स्थानों से होकर खैरासैण में रात्रि विश्राम करते हुए अगले दिन 27 अप्रैल, 2025 को सतपुली में पंहुचेंगे।
वहीं पश्चिमी नयार अध्ययन यात्रा दल के सदस्य 22 अप्रेल, 2025 को श्रृगं ऋषि आश्रम से 10 किमी. पैदल चलकर कोदियाबगड में रात्रि विश्राम करेगे। अगले दिन कोदियाबगड़ में चन्द्रसिंह गढ़वाली जी की समाधि पर आयोजित मेले में जन संपर्क करने के बाद 15 किमी. पैदल चल कर रात्रि विश्राम नानघाट की छानियों में करेंगे। अगले दिन नानघाट से 15 किमी. पैदल चल कर रात्रि विश्राम खण्डमल्ला गांव में करेगें। अगले दिन खण्डमल्ला में विचार-गोष्ठी के उपरान्त पैदल और जीप से जनसंपर्क करते हुए स्योलीतल्ली में होते हुए रात्रि विश्राम पैठाणी में करेगें। इसके बाद विचार गोष्ठी जनसंपर्क करते हुए रात्रि विश्राम मासौं गांव में करेंगे और अगले दिन 27 अप्रैल, 2025 को मासौं से सन्तूधार में जनसंपर्क करते हुए सतपुली में रात्रि विश्राम करेगें।
इस अध्ययन यात्रा का महत्वपूर्ण पक्ष यह है कि यात्रा में सभी साथियों को किसी भी तरह की विशेष सुविधा, संरक्षण व निर्भरता की अपेक्षा नहीं की जानी है।संयोजक समिति ने यात्रा दल के सभी सदस्यों से अपने स्तर पर समाज के लिए कुछ न कुछ योगदान तथा भौगोलिक अभिलेखीकरण किये जाने के जज्बे के साथ अध्ययन यात्रा में शामिल होने की अपेक्षा रखी है। एक तरह से यह अध्ययन यात्रा दल, मार्गों के आसपास रहने वाले स्थानीय जन-सहयोग और स्वयं के संसाधनों पर निर्भर हैं।
