टी20 सीरीज को अपने नाम करने के बाद भारतीय टीम ने इंग्लैंड के खिलाफ वनडे सीरीज की भी धमाकेदार शुरू की है। नागपुर के विदर्भ क्रिकेट एसोसिएशन स्टेडियम पर खेले गए वनडे सीरीज के पहले मैच को भारत ने 4 विकेट से अपने नाम किया।

विस्फोटक शुरुआत के बाद भारतीय गेंदबाजों ने इंग्लैंड को सिर्फ 249 रनों पर समेट दिया। बटलर ने 67 गेंद की अपनी 52 रनों की पारी में चार चौके मारे। 21 साल के बेथेल ने 51 रन बनाये तीन चौके और एक छक्का मारा। भारत के लिए तेज गेंदबाज हर्षित राणा ने 53 रन जबकि अनुभवी रविंद्र जडेजा 26 रन देकर तीन-तीन विकेट चटकाकर। मेहमान टीम की 47.4 ओवर में सिमट गई।

जवाब में रोहित शर्मा और यशस्वी जायसवाल जल्दी आउट हो गए, इसके बाद भी टीम इंडिया ने मुकाबले को 39 ओवर में ही अपने नाम कर लिया। शुभमन गिल ने शानदार 87 रनों की पारी खेली, श्रेयस अय्यर ने 59 रन और अक्षर पटेल ने 52 रनों की मैच जीताऊ पारी खेली। भारत को वनडे में 413 दिन बाद जीत मिली है। 2024 में टीम एक भी वनडे नहीं जीत पाई थी।
