मुख्यमंत्री ने इस विशिष्ट कार्यक्रम के लिए आयोजकों का आभार व्यक्त करते हुए कहा कि गंगा के पवित्र तट पर आयोजित यह बसंतोत्सव भजन संध्या संस्कृति और संगीत के अनुपम संगम के माध्यम से लोक संस्कृति और सनातन परंपरा को जन-जन तक पहुंचाने का सराहनीय प्रयास है। उन्होंने ऋषिकेश बसंतोत्सव समिति को इस भव्य और भक्तिमय आयोजन के लिए बधाई दी।

मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि ऋषिकेश आधुनिक योग और अध्यात्म का प्रमुख केंद्र होने के साथ-साथ सनातन संस्कृति की प्राचीन पुण्य भूमि भी है। सतयुग में इस धरा पर महर्षि रैभ्य को भगवान विष्णु के दर्शन हुए, त्रेतायुग में भगवान श्रीराम ने रावण वध के पश्चात यहीं तपस्या की तथा भरत जी ने भगवान नारायण की स्थापना कर पूजन किया। कालांतर में आदि गुरु शंकराचार्य द्वारा भी इस भूमि पर विशेष पूजन किया गया।

मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि मैथिली ठाकुर ने अपनी साधना, प्रतिभा और संकल्प से यह सिद्ध किया है कि समर्पण, परिश्रम, भक्ति और सेवा भाव से समाज में बड़ा परिवर्तन लाया जा सकता है।

मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि हमारे शास्त्रों में गीत और संगीत के माध्यम से की गई उपासना को ईश्वर से सीधे संवाद का मार्ग बताया गया है। सच्चे मन से की गई स्वर साधना कलाकार को समाज का पथ-प्रदर्शक बना देती है। उन्होंने कहा कि मैथिली ठाकुर जैसी विभूतियां यह स्मरण कराती हैं कि भारत की आत्मा आज भी गांवों की चौपालों, मंदिरों की घंटियों, लोकगीतों की धुनों और मां गंगा की लहरों में जीवित है।
